DIVORCE MEDIATION

Divorce Mediation is a confidential, voluntary, non-adversarial process in which a neutral third person meets with a divorcing couple to help them reach a mutually satisfying agreement for the terms of their separation, divorce or post-divorce dispute. The issues covered include but at not limited to the following:

How Long Does a Mediated Divorce Take?

The complexity of the issues, the ability of the individuals to negotiate a mutually satisfying agreement determines the length of the mediation. Every case is different; some couples work through all divorce-related issues in one session, while others meet multiple times before reaching an agreement. The average case usually takes 3 to 4 two-hour mediation sessions, spread out over a month or two. More complex cases can take 4 to 6 months to complete.

How much does it cost?

A mediated divorce is less expensive and time-consuming than going to court to litigate. No retainer required. Contact us to discuss fees.

Do I need to hire an attorney?

We recommend that each party hire a review attorney to use as a legal consultant. A review attorney is a divorce attorney acting in a limited role. The review lawyer informs you of your legal rights, review the final divorce agreement, and file the documents in court. When using mediation, you use your lawyer as a legal adviser instead of a divorce attorney, which saves you thousands of dollars. The cost of the attorney is separate from mediation fees
